Pan-African Law Professor Patrick Lumumba has proposed that Tanzania’s recent mineral resources reforms should be a regional approach to enable the precious stones boost socio-economic developments of the countries, he made the suggestion yesterday in Dar es Salaam while giving his remarks on bold measures.
“We have already seen statics and the situation has improved for artisan miners. It therefore, tells us that if you are bold you can make changes which bring benefits” Prof Lumumba explained while speaking at Tanzania Mineral and Mining Investment Conference 2020.
He said that Africa would derive socio-economic benefits from the mining sector if it properly organises itself and bargain as a bloc, citing the current situation of the mining sector in the continent, he said Africa has been short changed.
Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism Permanent Secretary (PS), Prof Adolf Mkenda said Tanzania has been allocating revenues collected from natural resources to improve its infrastructures and invest in human resources so that in future, citizens could be at front line owning and exploiting their own resources with modern technology.
